The book Coral Reefs of Iran, authored by Dr. Mohammad Reza Shokri (Faculty Member of the Department of Marine Biology, Shahid Beheshti University) and Dr. Keyvan Kabiri (Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science), has been published by the international publisher Springer.
According to the Public Relations Office of Shahid Beheshti University, this valuable work is the first and only comprehensive reference on Iran’s coral reefs in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

With a scientific and applied approach, the book examines the biodiversity, geographical distribution, and ecological conditions of corals in one of the world’s warmest and most saline marine environments. Drawing on modern technologies such as remote sensing, precise species classification, and ecological analyses, the authors provide an accurate, up-to-date, and field-based depiction of the status of Iran’s coral reefs.

Among the book’s notable features is the presentation of practical strategies for the conservation, management, and restoration of coral reef ecosystems under the region’s harsh climatic conditions. These strategies can serve researchers, environmental policymakers, and marine managers.

Coral Reefs of Iran is a valuable resource for researchers, students, environmental practitioners, and marine ecology enthusiasts. As a credible scientific reference, it offers the international scientific community access to the latest findings of Iranian scholars in the field of coral reef studies.
