Dr. Ahmad Reza Mehrabian, a member of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, announced that the bee products research center of SBU got started and added: “The bee products research center as the first comprehensive academic scientific research center in the field of bee products has been approved in the board of trustees of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU), with the support of the president and research directors of the university. This center operates by relying on the scientific capacities of experts and cooperation with the private sector to achieve its research and financial goals.”
Enumerating the goals and missions of the bee products research center, he stated: “Being the scientific authority of the field of bee products and improving the health of society by consuming beneficial and medicinal bee products are defined in the vision statement of this center. Moving in the direction of the country's upstream documents and improving the country's position in the field of bee products at the national and international level, using the national scientific capacities in order to achieve the authority of quality control, authentication and production of knowledge-based bee products, culture creation and public education to improve public knowledge and health in the field of bee products are among the main missions of this center.”
The head of the bee products research center enumerated the main goals of setting up the center as follows: “Moving in the direction of the country's macro policies in the field of environment, country, health and treatment, resistance economy, five-year development plans and comprehensive scientific program of the country in the field bee products; scientific and commercial cooperation with research centers and related industries at the national and international level; obtaining the license of the partner and reference laboratory of standard, food-drug and veterinary organizations and issuing certificates of authenticity and rating in bee products; production of knowledge-based products in order to improve the health of the society, the growth of production, job creation and the acquisition of Iran's authority in the field of bee products at the national and international level; holding workshops, conferences, scientific events at the national and international level to achieve scientific authority; obtaining a specialized scientific publication license to achieve scientific authority; recruiting students in graduate and postdoctoral studies to achieve scientific authority; consulting and training in the field of bee products, from the establishment of the apiary to the authentication and production, as well as the creation of national and international trademarks.”
