Ambassador of Slovenia visits Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology

Igor Jokic, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Iran, visited the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology of Shahid Beheshti University (SBU).
On Sunday, January 28, 2024, Igor Jokic and Maya Yerman, the third secretary of the embassy attended the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology and met with Dr. Mohammad Reza Bigdeli, the Dean of the Faculty and some members of the faculty and visited the laboratories of the faculty.
In the meeting held for this purpose, Dr. Bigdeli enumerated the strengths, power, capacity and scientific and research achievements of the faculty.
The two parties discussed and exchanged views on the necessity of developing international scientific cooperation between SBU and Slovenian universities regarding the exchange of professors and students; creating the ground for admitting postdoctoral researchers; offering short-term programs; holding online scientific-research programs; joint and dual programs, joint supervision; establishing support mechanisms and granting scholarships to students from the two countries; sending faculty members for study opportunities, research missions, as well as holding international conferences and meetings.
Igor Jokic gave explanations about the main universities of Slovenia and their conditions and expressed his desire to develop scientific-research cooperation.
Dr. Ahmad Reza Mehrabian, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, explained scientific achievements in the field of bee products, including the production of medicinal-therapeutic honey and the plant origin of this technical knowledge for the production of medicinal-therapeutic honeys.
In the second part of his attendance at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Biotechnology, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia visited some laboratories for measuring the quality and determining the medicinal properties of honey. During this visit, Dr. Minaei explained about inventing new methods for determining the quality and measuring the amount of medicinal compounds of honey for the first time in the world in this laboratory, and the guests also visited a collection of honeys from all over the country in the laboratory. Dr. Talebi also mentioned the statistics of patients cured by the identified honeys.
At the end, one of the most medicinal honeys in Iran was presented to the guests.
